The New Generation?

Is praise and worship music having an affect on a whole new generation? Has the new surge of contemporary praise and worship artists, brought a brand new audience? Suddenly there are large numbers of young people gathering for a Friday night praise and worship service. Huh? What happened to the days when we had to beg and plead our kids to attend Church on Sunday mornings. Now they are just voluntarily going to a church function on a Friday night? They seem to be anxious and excited about being in a worship service. What gives? To what can we attribute this strange new phenomenon?

Many seem to think that this newly found audience is attributed to the many changes in the style of music used in worship today. They feel the more contemporary sounds are just more appealing to our youth.

While the more contemporary sounds may be more appealing, I don't feel that style of music is the main reason for this new enthusiasm. I personally do not believe that a song, no matter how cleverly charted and composed can of itself bring a person into a true place of worship. There must be a genuine move of the Holy Spirit.

To be continued...
